Providing an effective fully managed outsourced IT department giving our client a solid platform to cater for future growth.

Initially in 2006 Pertek provided onsite IT support on a regular basis assisting the IT Manager with day to day support. As the business grew our support services were increased where we provided a fully managed, outsourced IT department.
Pertek became responsible for all aspects of their technology from vendor management to 24×7 network monitoring, IT support services for infrastructure, desktop and remote workers, Disaster Recovery, proactive support and ensuring that all IT issues were identified and dealt with quickly.

When we started working with this client they had approximately 50 members of staff including 15 home based sales people with an annual turnover of approximately £30m.

In 2010 we successfully merged into the business a retail business on a remote site. This involved migrating data and users from a Microsoft SBS LAN onto the one network and back office systems at the headquarters in London.

In 2015 our client moved into new offices and warehouse. We managed all aspects of the IT move into the new premises. As part of the move we virtualized their physical hardware estate using VMWare, managed and specified the new comms room fit out by designing the lay out, the cabinets, UPSs, LAN/WAN, managed and carried out the rollout of new hardware.

In 2016 the business now employs over 200 staff over two sites including over 80 sales people with an annual turnover in excess of £200m

 

Pertek supplies resource to assist the in-house IT team with various projects. These projects are mainly based around testing of and advising on their Dynamics NAV ERP system.
Projects have included implementing security on their ERP system, where they had all users having full permissions on everything within the system. This was a carefully planned and slowly rolled out project so it didn’t interfere with users day to day functions.
We also successfully extended their on premise SQL Analysis Server BI infrastructure into Microsoft Power BI online enabling their remote sales force to access their own sales data in a central Office 365/Power BI environment via ‘dashboards’.

We continue to provide project resource both remotely and onsite, assisting their own IT department.

Providing our London based client with a local onsite presence working with their IT teams based in San Diego.

Pertek supply onsite and remote IT support for their London office working with the large IT teams in the US.

In 2013 we were tasked with standardising and rationalising the hardware and software that was being used onsite. Their network had grown over two years with little or no control of the hardware bought or the software installed.

Working alongside the IT teams in the US we undertook the project to back up all the locally stored data on the various PCs and laptops, wipe the systems and install a standard Companywide image of Operating System and applications software.

We also installed a local domain controller that extended the Companies Active Directory into the London office, allowing users to authenticate onto the global network giving control of such things as group policies to all users.

We continue to work with the US based IT teams to provide a local IT partner allowing us to be called upon to remotely support users with site visits as and when needed. We can also procure hardware and software from UK based vendors taking alot of the hassle out of the IT being based in the US.

Providing a start-up business with onsite IT hardware and remote working

In 2010 we installed a LAN and Windows SBS domain into our clients new offices and distribution warehouse.

As a start-up business the owner didn’t want the additional work load of managing their own IT infrastructure. We worked with the owner on understanding the business and where the IT systems could work for the benefit of the business.

Remote working was identified as a key component for the business with applications being accessed from anywhere in the world owing to the owner and sales force working from locations such as India and the US.

In 2013 we migrated their email from a local onsite Exchange Server onto Office 365.

Pertek continue to provide a managed service where we remotely monitor system performance, ensure daily backups are run and provide telephone support to their users.

Working alongside their Microsoft Gold ERP partner, Pertek was engaged to setup and fully manage a Microsoft Azure server environment to run their new Dynamics NAV ERP solution.

After understanding the business needs, the number of system users and budgetary restraints, we specified and built an Azure Virtual Machine to run SQL Server and the ERP system. The business needs to be able to access the system from anywhere over a secure connection so certificate and username/password based authentication is used to achieve this.

We continue to provide remote support and full management of their cloud based Azure server.
